To All former Jemena Members at Zinfra

As you would be aware Zinfra have finalised an agreement covering former Jemena employees and will be meeting with employees this week to discuss it.

The ASU will be in attendance at these meetings, scheduled for Thursday 28 March 2019 at 9AM ( Broadmeadows) and 11AM ( Tullamarine).

The agreement is essentially a short term, transitional rollover of the existing JAM agreement. It will reach its nominal expiry date at the end of this year. Its purpose was to ensure pay increases beyond December 31 for former Jemena employees and to bring the expiry date of the agreement into line with the Zinfra Staff Agreement, which has already been voted up by staff.  Negotiations for a new agreement covering both the former Jemena employees and those covered by the Zinfra Staff Agreement will commence in a couple of weeks, in April of this year. This was the position voted on by members at the close of last year and conveyed to Zinfra as the in principle agreed position of ASU and Professionals Australia members.

It should be noted that there are no changes to existing terms and conditions of members, the agreement preserves existing entitlements and confers and additional pay increase as of 31 December 2019.

In addition to the agreement, Zinfra have provided the ASU with undertakings that increase the availability rates and also make provision for employees who may be engaged after the agreement is approved but for the new agreement covering all staff is finalised. All members are urged to attend Thursdays meetings to provide feedback, prior to voting on the agreement.
