Late last year Council Officers put a report to Council recommending that Council cease direct delivery of some CHSP & HACCPYP services including Domestic Assistance, Personal Care, Respite Care, Social Support Individual, Home Modifications and Property Maintenance – that is, most of your jobs!

The ASU called and wrote to Councillors and your ASU Delegate Gayl Lyons and ASU Organiser Will Wyatt spoke against the proposal at the meeting.

Fortunately, your elected Councillors voted to defer a decision until the final report from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality & Safety has been published which is by February 26, 2021.

It is possible that a report could go up to Council as early as 9 March!

Under your Enterprise Agreement and the Fair Work Act, if your jobs are transferred to another provider and you are offered a job with that provider then you will only have two choices – to work for the new provider whether you want to or not or resign!

The ASU has argued that you should have a choice and should be able to choose a redundancy package if you wish.

The ASU will be holding a meeting to discuss how we can fight together for your jobs and entitlements.
