During the current pandemic, the ASU has worked to protect member’s jobs and to make sure all members are safe in their workplace.
At VicRoads, ASU delegates and HSRs forced the shut down of drive tests in April, due to concerns about the lack of social distancing in cars.
Drive tests have now resumed at VicRoads after extensive consultation with the ASU about Covid-19 safety measures.
The detailed on-the-ground knowledge of ASU members at VicRoads informed these discussions.
The Andrews Government worked constructively with the union to make sure the legitimate safety concerns of license testers were addressed.
Union members at VicRoads have been very strong on this issue, and as a result of their actions, they are now in the driver’s seat when it comes to monitoring and enforcing OHS standards across the organisation.
