Congratulations WML employees on coming together and voting no to such an unfair offer. A big thank you goes to your delegates who have been working incredibly hard and faced unfair pressure in the course of conducting their roles.

After the success of the no vote, we are keen to recommence bargaining with WML as soon as possible. We want to maintain momentum so that we can work efficiently to reach an agreement that works for members. We have written to WML seeking approval for paid member meetings (to be held online starting Thursday 28 July- details to be confirmed) and have proposed a meeting on August 3 to recommence bargaining.

Our position remains the same – members want a pay rise that is fair and helps you manage the rising costs of living while protecting your hard-won rights and condition.

We will be having further conversations with WML about communication going forward due to unfortunate changes made late in the voting period that hampered open access as granted by the existing EA. In the interim, we are asking members willing to assist delegates and distribute material amongst branches to come forward- reach out to one of your delegates or reply to this newsletter.

Our ‘no’ vote shows the power of working together. Now is a great time to ask a co-worker to join the ASU at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
