Paid meeting for Civic Centre Staff 19 December 2018.
Your ASU Delegate Team met on 1 November for an EA planning day as the current EA expires 1 July 2019.
We had a good discussion around some claims in regard to Vision Super and other claims in regard to making improvements to the present EA.
Part of the EA process is to hold a round of meetings with members in the different council departments over the next few weeks to get some direction on any other claims which we can get endorsed through an on-line survey of all members.
ASU and ASU delegates have raised concerns about the lack of representation from Civic Centre members and non-members yet to join their union. It would be great to see some new delegates and new members joining from the Civic Centre area. We’d like to hear from you about what would make the difference for you.
Some of the super claims being considered by members relate directly to female employees. These include superannuation being paid on the Federal Government paid parental leave scheme (primary and secondary), extra super contributions for women. If workers at Whittlesea are going to win those claims you need to show your support.
You can do this by joining your union and getting behind these claims during bargaining. To make these issues a priority we need to stand together to show Whittlesea how important they are.
ASU understand that there has been recent restructuring in most departments in the Civic Centre and other areas of council and know this can sometimes create a real fear factor, uncertainty and insecurely in the workplace.
That is another good reason to join your union and get proper support and assistance which can only lead to better outcomes and better respect for you as employees.
Some of the ASU delegates and ASU Organiser Sean McCourt will be on site for paid meeting.
