The ASU and ASU delegate team attended the first consultation committee meeting on Tuesday 22 October on completion and approval of the new EA.

A big thankyou to all ASU members who supported their ASU team throughout the bargaining process

Thanks to you we were able to negotiate a fair and equitable outcome for everyone, even non-members who have yet to join their union.

There is still quite a bit of work to be done in regards to some of the EA clauses that need to be supported by agreed policies: transition to retirement, special leave pool, classification review.

The ASU have also raised the following matters for further discussion:

  • Review of disciplinary procedure, that all warnings have a lifespan of 12 months and then come off your record.
  • Evaluation of all restructures/realignments for the past 24 months at the City of Whittlesea to see what has worked well or not worked. ASU members have been raising issues that some of the changes have left some big voids in the distribution of workloads and direction of the different departments.
  • Review of drug and alcohol policy proposal, discussions is continuing on this matter to get best industrial practice, process and procedure.

The ASU also had a meeting with Vision Super to plan meetings at Whittlesea workplaces. They will give a presentation on super products and benefits, including an increase to insurance benefits, as this has to be completed within 60 days after the approval of the new EA.

The ASU delegates will be meeting monthly, a week before all the Consultation Committee meetings. If you have any matters that you want raised refer them on to your Delegates or ASU Organiser Sean McCourt for consideration.
