As you are aware, the ASU sought member feedback regarding the latest offer on the table over the last week.

The majority of members indicated a recognition of the progress made through the negotiation process, however, were still not supportive of the complete package.

On Monday, the ASU provided this feedback to the negotiation team, advising that we have not reached agreement.

Whilst we haven’t achieved everything, it is important to note how far we have come:

  • We were successful in increasing the wages offer considerably.
  • We fought off span of hours changes for our leisure workers.
  • We have achieved other improvements in both Part A and within the specific local area workplace agreements.

Council indicated that the offer still stands and that they are working towards putting the document out for a vote shortly.

We are currently working on the drafting of new clauses which were negotiated. Council indicated that we must finalise drafting by 30 May in order to ensure any back payment will be paid if the EA is not certified prior to the 1 September date.

We will hold another round of member meetings shortly to go through each of the changes.

We would like to thank each of the ASU members who participated in the survey or attended one of our meetings and a special thank you to the ASU delegates who have continued to stand up and advocate for our members through to the very last meeting.

Talk to your colleagues about what we have been able to achieve and fight off in these negotiations and encourage them to get on board with the collective via
