Change of operation hours win at Western Water depots
ASU members at the depots recently informed the union office that Western Water was trying to change the span of hours depot workers are expected to work, meaning less sociable hours to enjoy a healthy work/life balance. The ASU contacted Western Water management to follow up.
Your ASU delegate Colin Clarke and new ASU Organiser, Kristy Lee Tyrrell pushed back on management, outlining the unified negative response from membership on the proposed change. Management responded with withdrawing their change proposal, citing not wanting to risk making such a change that was so vehemently opposed by ASU members and delegates.
The ASU was clear with management that members also would not accept any future attempts to implement similar major changes without genuine consultation.
Securing these kind of wins don’t always come easily, ASU members stood up and won. By increasing our numbers and strength at Western Water we can and will continue to fight to improve your working lives.
