As you may be aware, the ballot is now open for CoM employees to vote on whether you accept the proposed new enterprise agreement.

All employees covered by the EA are eligible to vote. This is your opportunity to have your say about whether you accept the enterprise agreement. We encourage all ASU members to vote and have your say.

You should have received voting information from the City of Melbourne to your work email address. Please let us know if you haven’t received this information.

ASU’s view on the proposed agreement

The ASU does not support this agreement. This is because the agreement entrenches a two-tiered pay structure between Schedule A and AA workers. We fought to get this removed and have secured, via a Memorandum of Understanding, an agreement to introduce a ‘Remuneration Policy’ that will allow some workers on Schedule A to negotiate incremental progression payments. However, the new Remuneration Policy will not fix the fundamental injustice of a two-tiered pay structure.

However, we encourage you to consider the benefits of this agreement and the times, when determining your vote. We have been at the negotiating table for two years, and we are currently in lockdown.  The ASU recognises the agreement will provide many benefits to members, including back pay and wage outcomes that are consistent with wage increases across the local government sector.
