The ASU notified VicRoads yesterday that we are in dispute about the proposed changes to the Drive Test SOP.

Based on feedback from you, we wrote to VicRoads to advise that we were deeply concerned with the changes to the requirements around the wearing of masks and proving vaccination status. Yesterday, we received a flippant response, dismissing those concerns, AFTER the new SOP had been communicated to staff.

As a result, we have written to Management to advise that they are not compliant with S.21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, which requires that “An employer must, so far as is reasonably practicable, provide and maintain for employees of the employer a working environment that is safe and without risks to health.”

We have also notified a dispute under EA9, because the consultation provisions of Clause 7 of the Agreement have not been properly followed. While we are in dispute, the status quo must remain. In other words, this new SOP cannot be implemented until the dispute is resolved.

This is not over. And we have indicated that we are more than happy to meet with Management to try to resolve these issues.

We will advise members of any developments as soon as they happen.
