The ASU is continuing to lobby Government around the possible privatisation/outsourcing of VicRoads.

ASU Delegates and ASU Branch Secretary Lisa Darmanin have met with a number of MPs to express our concerns and to urge them to take these concerns to Treasurer Tim Pallas. So far the feedback has been very positive, with several more meetings scheduled.

Check out the link here to recent MP meeting, and follow ASU VicTas on Facebook for more updates on media and lobbying.

The Treasurer has stated that the Government is exploring ways to “increase engagement with private sector” or “joint venture options”. We all know this is privatisation by another name. We call on him to rule out any sort of private sector engagement.

In a recent press release, The Treasurer claimed that “We hope to deliver savings for motorists and are looking at several options for more efficient licensing and registration.”

We need to send a clear message to the State Government that the best way to provide an efficient service to the people of Victoria is to keep VicRoads in public hands.

The ASU is urging VicRoads to provide paid time members meetings before work starts in the morning, so that we can properly engage with members and discuss these issues with you. We hope to have this resolved shortly.
