As we approach the move to the Joint Venture, it’s important to make sure you’re staying up to date and getting the correct information.
As you will be aware, circumstances have necessitated that as of July 1, staff will move to a ‘Special Purpose Vehicle’, which in turn will be absorbed into the JV. This has meant that the dates for accepting letters of offer have had to be brought forward. VicRoads Management has kept ASU up to date through regular meetings and correspondence, and we are satisfied that these changes will not have any adverse impact in any way.
Incorrect information
It has come to our attention that some incorrect information has been provided to staff. Staff transitioning from VicRoads to Department of Transport have been told by a representative of another union that they need to join a union other than the ASU to be covered at DoT. This is not correct. ASU will continue to cover members who move to DoT and continue to provide full support and representation for those members.
We are also aware that some staff who are transitioning to the JV in the same role have been told that some terms and conditions will change, including possible changes to work location, or the tasks that they perform. This is not correct. If you are moving across in your current role, then that role and location will not change as a result of the transition to the JV (with the exception of the JV head office located at Rialto).
