WHAT IS ENTERPRISE BARGAINING?
Enterprise Bargaining is about reviewing and improving workplace entitlements and conditions. The ASU’s delegates/contacts and officials meet with management every couple of years to discuss existing conditions and entitlements, how work is performed, the needs of the organisation and staffs’ needs. ASU delegates/contacts and officials aim, when we meet with Very Special Kids management, is to negotiate improvements to existing conditions and introduce new entitlements; when possible lift industry standards and ensure members’ needs and concerns are brought to management’s attention to be addressed.
WHY HAVE AN ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT?
Your Award sets out a broad industry minimum of conditions to cover you in your workplace. Your Enterprise Agreement allows us to set out specific conditions and tailor clauses to suit your workplace. An enterprise agreement has the same legal force as an Award.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
The ASU officials and delegates/contacts are committed to bargaining for better conditions for your workplace. The ASU bargains across your industry. We want your voice to be strong during negotiations! If you are not a union member, it is really important you join today to show you support ASU members’ aim to improve workplace conditions.
The ASU needs members at Very Special Kids to get involved in the Enterprise Agreement process. That means becoming a contact or a delegate. Workplace contacts and delegates are vital to successful enterprise bargaining. Their role ensures all staff receive crucial communication throughout the EB process and allows us to take members’ feedback to the table.
The first enterprise bargaining meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday 13 November 2018 at 11am.
This meeting will be a meet and greet and to go through the principles of bargaining and possibly serve your Log of Claims if it is ready.
The ASU will be holding management approved paid meetings to develop/endorse the ASU Log of Claims as follows:
