We’ve had two EA bargaining meetings so far, and we’re starting to find our rhythm. Please have a look at the attached documents ahead of our meeting next Tuesday morning. Now that we have received VSK’s Log of Claims, we will want to discuss our bargaining priorities with members before getting too far into the process.

Attached documents

  1. VSK Management Log of Claims
  2. VSK Management’s response to staff Log of Claims.
Please note that while VSK management has ‘rejected’ some of our claims already, we still have the opportunity to press the case for these claims. All claims are on the table until they are agreed or resolved, this can include dropping the claim. You should interpret these responses to the staff Log of Claims as management’s preferences or starting point, rather than anything definitive.
  3. First draft of changes to EA as prepared by the ASU.
The ASU Log of Claims, representing staff issues refers to updating or strengthening several clauses, such as consultation, dispute resolution, and bereavement leave. We provided VSK Management with this attached draft to illustrate the types of changes we were looking to make. These changes represent a first offer. None of these changes have been agreed to by VSK management, but we think seeing this draft will give members a better sense of where we are in bargaining.

This stuff isn’t easy, so it’s okay if not everything makes sense. Ask questions and reach out to your delegates and bargaining representatives Libby or Mei.
