Unfortunately, the ASU has had to seek assistance from the Fair Work Commission regarding our negotiations with Ventia.
As previously mentioned Ventia is seeking to amend clauses within your current EA to make it ‘Code Compliant’ for potential future tenders they go for. Unfortunately, the clauses they seek to amend would limit consultation through the consultative committee and therefore your union representation.
The ASU proposed a suitable workaround which would result in the document still meeting Code however not imposing regulations on the current workforce of whom it doesn’t apply.
Ventia didn’t agree to this.
Further to this, we have also sought information regarding a tracked change draft agreement as they have indicated there has been some movement on the redeployment/redundancy clause however have not shared this. This makes it impossible to notify you of what these changes are.
It is disappointing that yet again we are needing to go to the Commission to progress negotiations.
We have a scheduled meeting with Ventia on Wednesday 15 December. We do not as yet have a date for our Commission hearing. We will update members as this becomes known.
We are only as strong as our membership, ask your colleague to join the ASU today via www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
