The Unison Enterprise Agreement will be out to vote on June 28 – June 29, 2021, with the access period starting June 21, 2021.

After a series of ASU workplace meetings and feedback from the membership, ASU members see that on balance the new Enterprise Agreement secures a significant number of over-award conditions and some enhancements. However, negotiations did not achieve everything we hoped, Unison has refused to include notification to the union when Unison seeks to introduce significant change (However your right to be represented during negotiations through the process remains). Due to reductions in the proposed new agreement, the ASU will not recommend the agreement and encourages members to consider their vote on the information provided. 

The agreement is for 3 years. If the agreement is voted down Unison will be forced back to bargaining.

While this could mean a further opportunity for the ASU to bargain for a better outcome if there is no member growth the employer may feel empowered to make less favourable adjustments. Outcomes are dependent on the power of the union at your workplace.

An agreement can only be voted up when a majority of employees vote ‘Yes’.
