You will soon be asked if there should be constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. 

The ASU will be holding member meetings, to discuss with members why it is important to be voting YES in the upcoming referendum and answer any questions you may have. 

The meeting will go through; 

  • what is a referendum,  
  • what the proposed constitutional amendments are,  
  • why it is important to be voting YES  
  • things that you can do to help 

Nillumbik Shire understands the importance of this and have agreed to meeting with members.

LOCATION: Nillumbik Civic Centre – Candlebark Room 2 (Please note council only approved 30 mins of this meeting in paid time. The other 30 mins will need to be in lunch time or made up)

This is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding about the importance of the Voice to Parliament and how you can play a vital part in ensuring recognitions of our first nations people. 

We are stronger when we are united. Please come along and speak to your colleagues about joining the ASU to attend these important meetings as well.
