The Fair Work Commission is set to decide on the Apple Enterprise Agreement, with a scheduled hearing before its Full Bench on Monday, 25 September, in Melbourne.
Throughout the negotiation process, the ASU has advocated for enhanced working conditions for Apple employees. This commitment extends to the forthcoming approval stage, where the ASU has raised concerns about Apple’s application, which the Company filed with the Fair Work Commission—the concerns related to how Apple interprets some working conditions. The interpretation of your working conditions is significant, as the Fair Work Commission must ensure that the proposed working conditions within the Enterprise Agreement are better off overall to employees than the industry minimums stipulated in the Award.
Several steps may occur before the Commission grants approval for the Enterprise Agreement. These include allowing Apple to provide an undertaking, a legally binding commitment to rectify specific concerns raised by the Commission and enabling bargaining representatives to express their views on the agreement and any proposed undertaking.
The ASU remains dedicated to improving the working conditions of Apple employees.
