It’s time to again vote on your Enterprise Agreement and we strongly urge you to VOTE NO.
Management has not listened to you and refused to move on the wage offer. They say it’s not sustainable for the business – what about the cost of living being sustainable for you.
Petrol prices have risen dramatically. The cost of renting or buying a house is on par with the mainland – yet Tasmanian wages are much lower than our mainland counterparts. CPI is sitting strong at 3%. We know the cost of living is much higher than CPI.
TasWater has now resorted to referring to the Tasmanian Economic Regulator as justification for not improving their wage offer. This has never been mentioned during bargaining for previous EAs. Don’t be fooled. Was the Tasmanian Economic Regulator referred to when the CEO received an exorbitant wage increase?
Wages need to increase and workers across all industries are calling for higher wage increases (as is the Reserve Bank of Australia). Union members win better increases and entitlements by acting collectively. Remember back to the introduction of 4 weeks annual leave, personal leave, superannuation, paid parental leave, paid family & domestic violence leave. All campaigned, fought for and won by Union members.
Stay strong and act collectively to VOTE NO. Remember to keep up the pressure with protected action. We know this is impacting upon TasWater.
You have nothing to lose by Voting NO. Let’s get them back to the table to talk seriously about your wages, conditions, under-resourcing and high workloads.
Encourage your non-union colleagues to join the action and stand with you by joining the ASU. They can join here: https://www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
