I’m getting in contact on behalf of hundreds of your fellow union members at Darebin Council, who’ve been fighting for a fair pay increase and improvements to conditions for months.

This Thursday morning, they’re stopping work, and they want ASU members who live in Darebin to join them at Preston Town Hall.

DATE: Thursday June 15
TIME: 10am
LOCATION: Preston Town Hall, Cnr Gower Street and High Street, PRESTON

You may have noticed our members taking industrial action around Darebin in the last couple of months. They want a pay rise that keeps up with the cost of living, improvements to consultation around staffing and workloads, and a fairer disciplinary procedure.

In response to these workers taking action, Darebin Council contracted a non-union garbage collector, who was caught on camera dumping recyclable and non-recyclable waste into the same truck.

Residents should be livid that your recycling is being sent to landfill to undercut a worker-led campaign for a better workplace. If it makes you angry, we strongly encourage you to join us on Thursday, 10am at Preston Town Hall.

If you can’t make it along, please contact the CEO and Mayor to show your support:

In Solidarity,
Tash Wark,

P.S. You’re receiving this email because our membership system says you live in the City of Darebin. If your address has changed, please get in touch with membership@asuvictas.com.au to update your file.
