Well done to all members who stepped up and joined the 24-hour strike day of action on 18 November. Christian did a great roll call of all the Branches that closed or partly closed for the day, with many staff across GRLC walking to push for resolving the last few claims.
It was great to stand on City Hall steps and launch our campaign for better funding for GRLC. If COGG doesn’t want to fund services, time to take the libraries back in house!
ASU delegates and officials attended an EBA meeting with management on Wednesday 17 November. After much bargaining, GRLC came back to the table with a revised offer addressing our two outstanding claims:
- Car parking: GRLC have agreed to provide uber/taxi service to staff on Mon- Fri late shift (non-daylight saving days) to get safely back to their cars within an agreed radius.
- Wages: after much deliberation in trying to address this, GRLC presented a revised offer to fix Level 5 band, adding an extra 0.75% to all increments.
ASU delegates Christian and Laura will be sending a mass members meeting invite for 7.30-8.30pm Tuesday 23 November. We are at a turning point where the vast majority of your Claims have been met. Please make sure to attend the meeting to resolve these important matters.
ASU office and delegates would also like to put on the record a massive thanks to Wren and Simon for all their hard work during this prolonged bargaining process.
Ask a workmate who isn’t yet an ASU member to join the union and get involved. It’s easy for anyone to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
