All ASU members are called to an unpaid protected stop work meeting and BBQ:
DATE: Tuesday, 19 July 2022
TIME: 12.30 – 1.30pm
VENUE: Kingston Park Playground, Sparrowhawk Street, Kingston
Union officials and delegates will be at the meeting to give a report on negotiations and to discuss your upcoming industrial action. We will also bring along campaign materials, including flyers, posters and badges ready for you to start the first actions of displaying and wearing campaign materials.
WHY ARE WE STOPPING WORK?
To date you have voted the agreement down three times and your General Manager has refused to give you a deal which you have been able to accept for over 2 years now. He enforced a wage freeze you didn’t ask for, whilst ratepayers’ had a rate increase! The cost of living has skyrocketed; interest rates are up, groceries are up, petrol and electricity have increased significantly – you need a wage increase in line with CPI and to protect your superannuation gap!
Don’t accept a real wage cut! We need to take action to get action!
WHAT IF MY BOSS SAYS SOMETHING?
You are entitled to take this action. It is protected action, which means it is your lawful right to stop work and attend. It’s meant to be uncomfortable for your boss; that’s how we get them to change their mind.
Don’t let your boss talk you out of attending or taking the actions we have agreed we will take.
You can read the letter we sent to notify your General Manager of the actions we will be implementing from Tuesday.
Remember, only union members can stop work and take action. Ask your workmates to join you by joining today: https://asujoin.asn.au
