The ASU, nurses’ union and bargaining rep Maureen Costigan appeared before the Fair Work Commission yesterday to seek that Stonnington bargain in good faith.

As discussed in recent member meetings this was to address a range of concerns held about the bargaining process.

All bargaining reps were able to participate in this conference begun by the ASU’s application.

During the conference, your union was able to reach agreement with council on deadlines to be followed up by council on a range of unresolved items.

The ASU will have the opportunity to advise the Commission at the end of next week about whether these are being followed up on as agreed, and whether further discussions with FWC assistance might help.

This week and next week we are also doing appendix discussions, ASU delegates are in process of providing feedback to relevant areas as these progress.

Following the round of ASU members’ meetings held last week, next week we will present members’ responses to council on the wage package circulated previously – ICYMI read here.

Well done to all the ASU delegates involved to get this process back on track, and for the persistence shown by delegates and members to get this far.

We will keep providing ASU member updates as this process comes to a head.
