The State Government recently announced changes to its Wages Policy, which mean that any enterprise agreements with a nominal expiry date in 2021 are capped at 2% pay increase, and enterprise agreements that expire from 2022 onwards will be capped at 1.5%.

And the government has set a deadline for the 2021enterprise agreements of 30 September. This means that these agreements will need to be at the stage of β€˜in-principle agreement’ by this date in order to be eligible.

In our discussions with Industrial Relations Victoria, they have indicated there will be more than 100 enterprise agreements across the public sector that will fall into this category. There will likely be a log jam of enterprise agreements all seeking approval and endorsement.

The ASU has maintained that we don’t accept these arbitrary limits on pay outcomes, but of course, we need to be mindful of them. We are in the final stages at Gippsland Water and Westernport Water and have started negotiations at North East Catchment Management Authority, Corangamite Catchment Management Authority, CFA PTA Agreement, Central Highlands Water, and Coliban Water.
