Just a few weeks ago, the state government announced a new wages and industrial framework for the public sector. This new policy an insult to public sector workers.
ASU members who are about to bargain, along with members of all other public sector unions, are being “offered” a choice between a roll over agreement for one year with a maximum of 2.5% wage increase or a longer term agreement with a maximum of 2% per annum.
It seems that the state government is going to force public sector workers to pay for its ambitious infrastructure program.
In response to the new wages policy, ASU water delegates recently met and determined to reject both “offers” that are on the table. Delegates will instead push for fair enterprise agreement offers when we next bargain.
