ASU members met yesterday to discuss the status of the proposed restructure. It was clear that several questions remain unanswered, that the spill and fill process has not been justified, and the consultation process has been rushed and inadequate.
As such, members endorsed the position that the union write to South East Water Management and notify them that we are seeking to initiate the disputes resolution process in your South East Water Enterprise Agreement.
We wrote to management this morning and have initiated that process. We have also advised them that in accordance with Clause 5.2 of the Disputes and Grievances clause, “Whilst a dispute or grievance is being dealt with in accordance with this Clause, work must continue in accordance with usual practices…” In other words, the proposed restructure will need to be put on hold until this dispute is resolved.
We have indicated that we are happy to meet to resolve these matters, and we await their response.
We will notify members of any progress on this matter as soon as it happens.
