The ASU has identified that Yarra City Council’s sexual harassment and equal opportunities policies and procedures are not up to standard and have written to the CEO demanding that Council address this as a matter of priority. You can download the letter here.
Sexual harassment is a work health and safety issue. Employers have a responsibility to be proactive in their approach to prevent sexual harassment occurring in the workplace and to ensure that the process for dealing with complaints is safe and confidential.
The ASU has requested that Council undertakes a review and update their Policy and procedures relating to sexual harassment, discrimination, victimisation and vilification as a matter of urgency.
All workers have a right to be safe at work.
