The recent Federal Government budget announced that the Morrison Government would lift base funding in Department of Social Services Grants to cover the costs for Equal Pay wages won by ASU members in 2012.

This will provide hundreds of millions of dollars across the country to SACS organisations to cover the equal pay wage increase in December.

We won our campaign to save frontline jobs. We won our campaign to stop pay cuts. We won our campaign for recognition of your essential work in social and community services.

The success of this campaign was down to the commitment of ASU members to use our collective strength to protect members interest.

ASU members campaigned, and the Government has listened.

While this is a great win for DSS funded programs, we are aware that we still have to fight for equal pay funding for federal-state partnership programs.

This is a particular problem for programs in the housing & homelessness sector. We continue the fight to fund these programs fairly.
