As your ASU elected delegates, we are writing to provide a short update on how the Enterprise Bargaining process is going and to invite you to a Members’ Meeting. You can attend in person or online.

People & Culture have agreed that staff can attend for their half-hour lunch break and a half-hour of paid work time, please liaise with your line manager. If this day/time doesn’t work for you, let us know and we can schedule other meeting times.
We will be providing updates on some of our claims, which SHM has responded to thus far:
- Claim 2 – Introduction of paid x-gratia (gifted) leave
- Claim 9 – Australia Day substitution
- Claim 10 – paid ceremonial leave for First Nations staff
There are also some minor changes to existing leave provisions and an update on Gender Affirmation Leave. We did not include this in our log of claims because SHM indicated they were planning to introduce this early in the process. However, survey responses and direct feedback highlighted that this was important to our members, and we are pleased that SHM has drafted clauses on this form of leave and been open to feedback from staff members with lived experience regarding suitable wording.
