The time is fast approaching for HBCC Councillors to decide whether their long-serving staff who provide essential in-home care services get to keep their job at Council, and continue to provide the highest standard of care for vulnerable Hobsons Bay residents.
We had asked all ASU members at HBCC to come to the Council Meeting, which was scheduled for Tuesday 12 Feb, to support their colleagues who are affected by the decision. As you would be aware this meeting has now been rescheduled to 7pm on Tuesday 19th February (next week).
While the meeting has now been changed, we had also asked members of the community to come along, and so a few ASU Officials will still be at the Civic Centre at 6:15 tonight to talk to them about what’s happening and why we need their ongoing support. You are welcome to come along if you want to be involved in these discussions.
We are now asking that all ASU members at HBCC come to the Council Meeting on Tuesday 19 Feb at 6:15pm (for the 7:00pm meeting) to support their fellow workers.
The ASU will be circulating additional information about the proposed decision, and why it would be utter madness for the Councillors to proceed at the moment, later in the week.
In the meantime you can read more about it here: http://www.starweekly.com.au/news/pressure-over-home-care/pub/maribyrnong_hobsons_bay/
