Earlier this week the ASU met again with Qantas management representatives to discuss the ongoing expression of interest process for Team Leaders and Operations Managers.

The EOI period has now closed and Qantas provided us with information as to the requests received.

The Operations Manager redundancy (one position) has now been resolved after one request for redundancy was received. That EOI will be accepted.

The Team Leader redundancies (2 redundancies and one reduction to part-time) are ongoing having only received one request for redundancy as their first preference. That one redundancy request will be accepted.

The ASU has put to Qantas that there is no need to look at second, third and fourth preferences to find an additional Team Leader to leave. Our preference is that they accept the one redundancy and leave it at that. This is not uncommon in other areas of the business.

We understand that there will be an increasing workload as Premium customers return to flying over the next couple of years. There will be a need for another Team Leader and we believe that they should keep those that want to be there now.

As the decision-maker was not in the room for the meeting we now need to wait until next week for them to review our suggestion and finish discussing other preferences with each affected employee.

Weโ€™ll keep you updated on the progress as we receive more information.
