ASU Organisers and Delegates have met with members of the Qantas management team on Thursday this week, 21 March 2019, to begin consultation around conducting an expression of interest process for voluntary redundancy for CCC, TC and TL positions.
Importantly, there will be NO FORCED REDUNDANCIES. If you do not want to leave, you will not be asked to leave.
The ASU raised a number of significant concerns which we are seeking further information on before we are comfortable with the process proceeding.
Some of the concerns we have raised include:
- The provision of information about the number of redundancies Qantas are seeking, or are able, to accept;
- The modelling showing how the loss of any employees is possible given the current wait times and overtime availability;
- Current staffing levels and a breakdown of the full time / part time split; and
- Details of the staffing levels required to comply with the deal with the state government;
The company has agreed to respond to the Union’s questions and we have agreed to meet again following this information being provided. At this stage our next consultation meeting is scheduled for Thursday 4 April 2019.
