The ASU have recently become aware of a restructure across the Home and Community care team. We understand that there has been no consultation with employees affected or with their union. The ASU are concerned that care workers, whom this change will largely impact, have not been consulted the ASU has written to your employer.
We have been advised by members that Boroondara City Council has made a decision to implement a restructure effective 23rd of September. We understand that this is going to have an effect on staff including team leaders and around 74 care workers who will have changes made to their reporting lines, team allocation, clients and location. We understand that one of the impacts will be increased workloads on team leaders.
The ASU has sent correspondence today to the CEO and director of Home Care Carolyn McClean requesting we meet with council and employees affected by the changes .The ASU have reminded council of their obligations in relation to Clause 4 Consultation regarding Major Workplace Change outlined in Boroondara City Council Enterprise Agreement 2018 and requested that the status quo is to remain until the dispute is resolved.
When further information is available the ASU will notify members.
