The ASU has just been notified of some major changes at Darebin City Council that will impact the Community Division.

The letter outlining the proposed changes is available here.

The main impacts, according to council, are:

  • Cessation of Out of School Care program as of 1 July 2023
  • Shortened library opening hours – proposed to be reduced from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturdays to 10 am – 3 pm
  • Council will no longer be backfilling vacant positions while recruitment is being undertaken
  • Several vacant positions across various departments will be removed on a permanent basis

Union members should encourage all affected employees to participate in the consultation process and provide their feedback to the council. It is important to voice any concerns or issues that may arise from the proposed change and to ensure that the council considers all feedback before making a final decision.

The ASU asks members impacted by the changes to contact their ASU delegate or the ASU office. We will be seeking more information from council and will be engaging in the consultation process.

If you have any concerns about this proposed change please contact:
Your ASU delegate or the ASU office on 1300 855 570 or info@asuvictas.com.au

By encouraging your workmates to join the ASU we will have a stronger voice for workers at Darebin City Council. It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
