By now you should have received your registered worker welcome pack from the Portable Long Service Authority (PLSA/Authority). This should arrive in the mail to your home address, or other address your employer has as a contact.
This pack is a sign that your employer has registered you for the portable long service leave scheme and have started paying into an account on your behalf. The pack will give you details such as membership number and login details for an online portal to check your balance.
If you have not yet received a registered worker welcome pack it could mean that you have not been registered with the Authority.
If you have not received a welcome pack, your union wants to hear about it! Please fill in this quick 1-minute survey so we can keep advocating around PLSL and tracking any implementation issues:
If you have not yet received a registered worker welcome pack, we strongly advise members to also report this to the Authority ASAP, please see contact details below. You can do this confidentially, or even anonymously, to seek follow up with your employer.
Implementation Concerns & Advocacy
The ASU is aware that there are some ongoing issues with implementing the scheme. The union is continuing to strongly advocate with the sector, the Authority and Government that ALL community service workers, regardless of role type or employer, be covered. We are pleased to report there is some movement on this front.
Community Service Workers performing work that is not direct practice should all now be registered without questions, including work such as admin, policy, research, reception, payroll and finance, communications, fundraising, team leaders, managers, human resources and more.
Community Service Workers employed by CHCs the Authority is contacting employers to check their obligations under the scheme. ASU is continuing to push for unambiguous inclusion.
Community Service Workers employed by Women’s Health the Authority is contacting employers to check their obligations under the scheme. ASU is continuing to push for unambiguous inclusion.
