Members will know the ASU has been campaigning for library staff to be put back on their full hour’s given libraries can now operate book delivery and contactless collection services.

This lift in restrictions means there is work to be done for people who are on reduced rosters. Not to mention the volume of catch up work at each branch that needs to be done. After speaking with delegates today, it is clear the utilisation of staff at around 70% of their hours is just not enough.

Even though other Councils have reverted staff to full hours since the expansion of services, plus the volume of work there is in libraries, the Council is just not listening to you. The ASU and delegates have requested to meet with Council again this week to get your hours back.

If you have examples of where work is not being done please let your ASU delegates or the ASU organisers know ASAP.

Your membership is your strength, know someone who is not a member? Don’t forget the ASU recruitment competition is underway until September, $500 is up for grabs for the member who recruits the most new people.
