ASU delegates and officials met last week to discuss updates from Library, children’s services, and Depot delegates.
Libraries have reopened and staff have their full hours! After weeks of ASU reps and officials trying to keep staff employed at their full hours and avoiding loss of pay, ironically, we hear they are now short staffed!
Childrens Services reps and ASU officials met with management recently to raise a number health and safety concerns and understaffing issues. We heard from your ASU representatives that these issues have improved! Casual staff have been reengaged, and although some planning time is still owed to staff, there is a process in place, and we are hopeful this will resolve soon. A member meeting for Childrens Services will be held to gain feedback from members in the coming weeks.
We heard from the ASU Women’s Organiser on the Gender Equality Act, which will be come into effect in March 2021. The ASU and delegates will be focusing on this closely over the coming months. ASU Women’s network meeting is on 11th of June at 12.30pm where we will hear from the Victorian Minister for Women and our branch Secretary Lisa Darmanin. Please RSVP to email@example.com to attend.
If you have any matters you want discussed at the next delegate meeting, speak to your delegate. We are calling for more delegates in unrepresented areas, so if you are interested please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
