This week aged care workers at Latrobe council made the front page of the Latrobe Express with their petition to save aged care!

On Tuesday ASU Secretary Lisa Darmanin battled it out with CEO Steven Piasente on ABC Gippsland and commercial radio about council’s plans to privatise their aged care.

Councilor Graeme Middlemiss stated he will press councilors to review the decision to privatise once he receives the petition from workers.

So we need your help to get as many signatures from the community as we can! And fast!

You can sign and share the petition through all your networks here:

We will be putting up posters with a QR code to link to the petition as well. If you can help put some up in your area email Tuffy –

Why is this so important?
Aged care in local government keeps people safe and connected. They pay above the award wage, provide permanent jobs and good conditions for staff, including paying for travel time. What this means is second to none care for clients. All this is lost if this service goes to the private sector. We must defend these services as best as we can for the future of all people in the valley, because at some point, everyone is going to need care.

Unionism is your strength. Encourage your colleagues to join the ASU online today via
