The ASU has an unmatched track record of opposing outsourcing and offshoring of Australian jobs, and we welcome news when employers bring jobs back in-house or back to Australia.
In excellent news for Australian jobs, opportunities in the Latrobe Valley, and Alinta Energy’s customers, the major energy retailor is bringing hundreds of jobs back from the Philippines to regional Victoria.
By bringing its customer centre call centre team onshore, there will be hundreds of jobs created in the Latrobe Valley at a new customer contact centre.
According to Alinta Energy, they chose the Latrobe Valley for the new contact centre because of its existing connection to the region through its operation of Loy Yang B.
We congratulate both Alinta Energy and the Victorian Government, who has supported the return of these jobs to Victoria, for investing in high quality locally delivered services and jobs.
Our union represents workers in power generation as well as in the retail sector of the energy industry and bringing call centre operations to the Latrobe Valley will give a stronger voice to workers at Alinta.
