The ASU Negotiating Team met with City of Melbourne on Monday expecting to receive a revised offer from management, in response to our fair and reasonable offer last week.

No offer was forthcoming and instead City of Melbourne sought to engage in a theoretical conversation about the merits of various permutations of the Consumer Price Index.

We very clearly restated that our position is a fair and reasonable one – 3.3% back pay for the two years without a pay rise and 1.5% in 2021. This was a significant compromise from ASU members, moving from the previously agreed March 2020 position.

We await a response from the City of Melbourne to our counter-offer. There is another meeting scheduled for Thursday and we expect at that meeting that management will respond with a revised offer or “a way forward”.
