ASU members met on Friday 22 October to discuss current issues at NHVR, and the process for electing a new delegate.

Members raised concerns that there were ongoing problems with Telematics, Duty Driving, Duress alarms, and concern about possible future changes to roles.

The ASU committed to writing to management to seek to resolve these matters, and to seek internal legal advice about whether they can be pursued through Fair Work Australia if they remain unresolved. We are currently in the process of doing both of these things and will update members shortly of any progress.

At the meeting, ASU Member Steve Holland formally nominated to become an ASU delegate at NHVR.

As a member of the ASU, you are invited to participate in a vote.

Please provide any objections or support for this nomination by emailing ASU Organiser Matt Price by close of business Friday 12 November.

If there is a majority of support for the nomination, Steve will be declared elected as an ASU Delegate.

What do delegates do?
ASU Delegates are the essential link between ASU members at each workplace and the broader union. Effective delegates can identify issues and provide information to officials of our union to make sure members’ rights and conditions are protected.

Delegates can provide representation, support and advice to members as well as build the union by providing information and raising awareness of union issues with staff. An ASU Delegate is someone who is your representative and is elected by you.
