Unions and management met on Tuesday 28 September to discuss a way forward.
We talked about wages, allowances, working from home arrangements and Council finances. We reported that members at our meetings still do not accept the current offer. We asked that your CEO come to a meeting.
Management did not agree to bring the CEO to negotiations. We did not reach agreement. Everyone agreed to meet again on Tuesday 5 October.
It’s encouraging that everyone is acting in good faith and that there is enough goodwill to resume negotiations.
What are our options?
- There may be another vote. We will only recommend this if we can reach in-principle agreement on an improved offer
- Union members could apply to Fair Work for protection and then take action e.g. a stop-work meeting, a work ban
What are other Councils agreeing on?
Northern Grampians: 2% or $30
Moorabool Shire: $27 per week, per year
West Wimmera Shire: 2%, $25 per week
