The ASU is critical of Murrindindi Shire Council’s decision to withdraw from delivery of aged and disability services in your community. It is clear that Council made this decision in haste, prior to an announcement of an extension of the Commonwealth Home Support Program to June, 2022.

Shires such as Murrindindi with a geographically dispersed ageing population and limited alternative providers have the most to lose withdrawing from direct service delivery. The costs of losing a long term stable workforce who deliver good care to their community through consistent caring relationships are incalculable.

The ASU has written to your CEO regarding the decision and requested information about their discussions with State and Federal Government, expected time frames and your employer’s obligations to employees under the Murrindindi Enterprise Agreement. You can download a copy of our letter to the CEO here.

The ASU is yet to receive a response to this correspondence and will communicate with members when we do.
