A couple of months ago Council put out a tender to contract out home and community care for all new clients. We believe that a decision will be made at this weeks Council meeting. We have been in discussions with management since December and have continually opposed this proposal.

With COVID-19 the privatisation of aged care services has never been a more critical issue of concern for the health and wellbeing of your community.

  • There is a workforce crisis in the aged care sector
  • Privatisation of care leads to more precarious employment and reduced standards
  • The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety is due to report next year with likely impacts on policy and funding
  • Council care is trusted, of a high standard, reliable and well regulated

This will be the last meeting before Council goes into caretaker mode. To make the decision to privatise care in this environment is not in the best interests of your community and such an important decision should be left to the new Council.

We have written to your Councillors and asked them to vote against privatizing this vital service if it is on the agenda.
