ASU members across Moreland Council walked off the job last Wednesday and sent a message that management must do better in their offer, and how they negotiate and treat their workforce.

In response, CEO Cathy Henderson requested a meeting with the ASU and other bargaining reps for Tuesday afternoon. We’re pleased Ms Henderson wants to get things back on track, but now is not the time to take the pressure off as this may still be far from over.

ASU will attend the Council meeting on Wednesday to ask questions to Councillors about budget decisions. We will gather at 5:30pm on Urquart St for a BBQ, so come along meeting and show the Councillors we’re serious!

Your ASU Delegates also voted to implement the remaining work bans and a further stop work for this Thursday 12 May. You can read a copy of the letter here.

This will add to the list of bans already in place, which you can find here.

To make use of this time, we are calling an ALL ASU MEMBERS STOP WORK MEETING at 12noon on Thursday, so every ASU member can hear about and express their views on Tuesday’s meeting, and on our consolidated wage position.

A running sheet for the day as currently planned can be viewed here.

HOWEVER, this may change depending on how the meeting with Ms Henderson goes Tuesday afternoon, so keep an eye out for updates. If you have questions contact your local ASU Delegate or Organiser or ring the ASU Office on 1300 855 570.
