Update on the important work to keep aged care services
As members may be aware your council voted last year to take the steps required to register as a Home Care Package provider.
We know that the changes in the funding arrangements for Council run aged care providers is changing, and this has created a significant barrier to Council’s across Victoria in continuing to offer the service.
Your Councillors, Sue Bolton and Monica Harte have tabled a motion in their council meeting this Wednesday evening.
The motion calls on Council to do the following:
- Write to the Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler to guarantee the future of local council-run aged care in Victoria by continuing block funding permanently.
- Confirm their intention to register as a home care package provider
- Explore opportunities to become a provider of Regional Assessment Services in partnership with other Councils.
You can read the agenda and motion here Agenda of Council Meeting – Wednesday, 13 July 2022 (moreland.vic.gov.au)
The motion is vital to the campaign to secure aged care services in Local Government, and we applaud Councillors Bolton and Harte in their proactive approach.
The motion will be discussed and voted on at the council meeting at Moreland Civic Centre Wednesday 13 July at 7pm.
We urge you to attend and show your support for the motion, and for council run aged care services.
We are stronger when we are united. Please come along and encourage your colleagues to attend as well.
