We thought management’s pay offer which guarantees that your wages will not keep up with cost of living increases is bad, but it get worse.
Last week management sent out an updated draft of the enterprise agreement. They have removed clauses and inserted new ones without any negotiation.
We are still working through the agreement but some of the nasties include:
- Reduced penalty rates for depot and community support staff
- Standby allowance removed
- Reduced job security for casuals & SEO’s
In addition, Council won’t tell us what the changes are, they just expect us to find them and they won’t meet with us to discuss the changes either!
This is not bargaining in good faith and we have written to the CEO. Pending the CEO’s response we will apply to the Fair Work Commission for bargaining orders to get them back to the table.
You would be aware that the vote for industrial action was a resounding YES. We have been talking to members about what action to take and when. We will let you know when the action starts which will likely be the end of this week.
Only ASU members can take industrial action. Do you want to be part of the solution?
