Moonee Valley City Council aged care workers have won an ongoing backpay claim.
A few months ago, they noticed something wasn’t right in their pay. Their enterprise agreement says they should get paid if a client cancels within 48 hours. But they were only getting paid for cancellations within 24 hours.
After initially rejecting the concerns of their workers, MVCC appointed an auditor. This auditor has already found hundreds of dollars worth of backpay owed to our members. But that’s not all. While the auditor has been looking at late cancellations, members noticed something else. Their travel time and travel kilometres were also being paid incorrectly. This new underpayment has been referred to the auditor for assessment.
