Moira Shire had agreed to a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) for an extension of the current EA for 12 months, to expire June 30, 2021.

There was to be no change to the EA, just for us to discuss the quantum increase for the 12 months.

It is very disappointing to see that Moira reneged on the agreed MOU, and also want changes to the EA. The ASU does not support this at all, and we will meet with your delegates soon to discuss our options.

The ASU offer supported by ANMF and PA unions was to be 2% or $30:00.

In the graphs above you will see the black bar, showing the position Moira employees are at, compared to other council EA’s.

Moira Members have made allowances in the past years to assist council when it was struggling and during the drought. The Council is now in a better position, due to your efforts.

For council now to renege on the MOU and offer you NOTHING and change conditions is disgusting and shows no respect to the employees of Moira.

Our offer is not only reasonable it is also sustainable, and that is thanks to your efforts. The CEO said, “council has paid off its debt, and has 36 million dollars”, at staff meetings he had held at depots.

The claims that are now being put out by council do not stack up. The ASU will not accept this and continue to defend your pay and conditions.

The ASU has put together the below survey for your feedback on what you want to happen with current EA negotiations. As mentioned earlier we are not in agreement with what the council has put to us. Please complete this survey by Tuesday 19 May.
