As you may be aware, many SACS employers are putting in place working arrangements as a result of the Coronavirus and the various social distancing measures required by both Federal & State Governments.
As a result, yesterday the CEO of Merri Health has informed the ASU of some changes which are as follows:
- We have five (Headcount) that work as part of our carer services team ordinarily as a Health Coach we are anticipating based on current information less demand for these services over the next few weeks. As such we are proactively training employees to be able to undertake assessment and planning and/or intake functions which will have a higher demand and require more staffing than we currently have. In the event we cannot provide these staff with a full workload in health coaching we would be seeking they perform assessment and planning and/or intake functions. This will continue to see them being able to work during this time and therefore maintain job security.
- Implementing a change to our model of mental health care – we will cease group based activates and will provide telehealth/phone counselling instead of face to face. This will continue to see them being able to work during this time and therefore maintain job security.
- Our social support program groups are on hold until Monday 13 April 2020 (inclusive) – we will reassess closer to the date. We have identified existing clients who will benefit from ongoing contact and will continue to support them outside of the group setting and are looking into different models of care. We have set up a rotating roster (in consultation) of staff who will come into the office or stay at home – this ensures we don’t have gatherings of employees within close contact of each other. This will continue to see them being able to work during this time, without loss of pay, and therefore maintain job security.
This consultation with the union and employees is a requirement of Clause 14 of the Community Health Centre (Stand-Alone Services) Social & Community Service Employees Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2017.
